It's a Table... It's a Desk... It's... Not Quite Finished

Operation antique-work-table-to-desk is fully underway. I spent most of the day Sunday in the sunroom working on it. After two coats of deep blue grey primer and two coats of Benjamin Moore Stone White, the table that used to look like this...


Now looks like this...


Now I'm working on the perfect DIY distressed look. So far I've roughly sanded the edges by hand so the blue grey shows through and whacked it with... wait for it... a meat tenderizer. Oh yeah. No better way to make the neighbors think you're crazy than excitedly pounding away at a table with a metal mallet! Here's a look at how one of the corners look now.


It's starting to come together but overall (especially on the tabletop), the paint still looks a little too fresh so I need to figure out other ways to rough it up. Many people have suggested hammering a big ol' chain into the surface. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!
